Australia’s democracy is stronger than most. But right now, it’s under serious threat.

Online, misinformation moves faster than facts. Money and vested interests can have a louder say than ordinary Australians. Political campaigns are increasingly built on attack ads and spin, not real plans and vision. And now, AI risks amplifying these threats on a scale we've never seen before.

We urgently need our political decisionmakers to act.  

That’s why we’re calling on all parties to release their plan for how they will renew and protect our democracy.  
 

We want to see common-sense reforms that put people first:  

• Modern civics and media literacy education

• Truth in political advertising laws 

• Stronger lobbying so that politics works for all and not just some 

• Greater independence for public service appointments 

• Increase funding for public interest journalism 

• Protections against disinformation and foreign interference on social media
